Microbial quantification and monitoring

Microbial testing of the oral microbiome could be used as an adjunct in a clinical setting to identify sites of active tissue destruction in the oral cavity, to help in planning treatment, and to evaluate the effects of treatment protocol (Clinical Oral Microbiology, p. 69).
